Introduction
Binary Language Centre aims to be a 1 STOP centre providing training non-native speakers of English towards the path of proficiency.
The English courses are designed for learners who wish to develop their English skills to a level that will enable them to commence studying in higher education through the medium of English. They are designed to encourage the development of the skills necessary to deal successfully with real-world tasks within the context of higher education.
All students enrolling at Binary University are required to take a Placement Test on their arrival. The Placement Test will assess the English Language proficiency level of the students. Students who do not meet the minimum level of English Language proficiency will have to take an English Language programme at the recommended levels.
There are four levels of General English courses. Each course has a duration of 80 hours classroom teaching time.
On completion of the courses learners will be able to:-
- Read and understand a range of authentic academic texts.
- Listen actively to lectures, presentations and interviews.
- Write a variety of essay types.
- Participate effectively in seminars, tutorials and group discussions.
