The PhD to Associate Professor transition program at Binary University is a structured 24-month pathway designed to prepare academics for senior scholarly roles. Progress is evaluated through defined KPIs across four domains: research and publications, teaching and supervision, conference engagement and academic leadership. The program integrates performance-based assessment with professional development, ensuring candidates demonstrate sustained impact, scholarly excellence, and institutional contribution prior to the conferment of Associate Professorship within a rigorous and transparent evaluation framework.

Education Requirements & Experience
To qualify for the PAP program, candidates must meet the following conditions:
Educational Requirement
Completed PhD from a recognized institution
Service / Experience Requirement
Minimum 3 years’ experience
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs) & WEIGHTAGE
- Publish at least 4 research papers in Scopus/ ERA or WoS.
- Publish 2 Scopus Indexed Book Chapters.
- Demonstrate Satisfactory Student's Feedback for teaching online.
- Examine at least 5 doctoral program thesis per year as an Internal Examiner.
- Supervise successfully at least 1 doctoral student per year.
- Participation in academic committees and leadership through the International Conference: prepare Conference Proceedings and Manuscripts publications.
- Publish at least one Policy Paper or one Case Study per year.
- Publish at least one newspaper article per year.
- Engagement in consulting and advisory roles together with Binary Team.
- Contribution to society and industry through expertise and knowledge sharing.
- Awards received.

8 Research Centers of Excellence
All PAP candidates must be attached to one of the following 8 Centres of Excellence to meet the KPIs explained above.

Holistic Assessment
Transition from PhD to Associate Professor is not based on a single metric—but a comprehensive academic evaluation based on the following.
- Holistic review of all academic contributions
- Evaluation aligned with the goals of your chosen Research Centre of Excellence
- Assessment by University Senate and external academic assessors
- Review of:
- Research outputs
- Teaching contribution & supervision
- Leadership roles
- Professional and societal impact
Final Outcome
Candidates who successfully meet all requirements and achieve at least 75% weightage will be:
- Conferred the title of Associate Professor
- Recognized by the Senate through issuance of a Certificate of Conferment
- Celebrated at a prestigious graduation ceremony (optional) chaired by H.E Chancellor.
