Empowering Teachers Across Africa with Study Grants to Access Higher Education
INTRODUCTION
Launched in conjunction with Binary University’s 40th Anniversary in 2024, MyBIG-Africa for Teachers & Lecturers is a dedicated initiative by Binary University to empower teachers in Africa through substantial financial assistance (Study Grants). By removing financial barriers, this program ensures that teachers can access world-class education at highly affordable fees without leaving their jobs or families.

ABOUT BINARY UNIVERSITY
Established in 1984, Binary University is a 5-STAR rated University by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. The University was rated Highly Competitive in the 2023 rating, the highest accorded to any public or private university in Malaysia.

FROM BGS TO MyBig-Africa
Launched in 2009 in Zambia during the leadership of the late President Rupiah Banda, the Binary Global Scholarship (BGS) Fund initially benefitted 10 scholars per year in each participating country, with a minimum CGPA of 3.5. Over time, BGS was expanded to cover other countries including Kenya, Senegal, Uganda, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe, providing life-changing opportunities to talented students across Africa.
Building on the BGS Fund tradition of empowering African scholars, MyBIG-Africa for Teachers was established to empower a larger number of educators a more inclusive approach to ensure that 18,000 teachers in 2025 will have the opportunity to pursue higher education through our generous grants.
ELIGIBILITY FOR MyBIG-AFRICA
For PhD : Applicant must posses a recognised Masters with minimum CGPA 2.75
For MSc in Education : Applicant must posses a recognised Bachelor with minimum CGPA 2.75
For PPC : Applicant must posses a recognised Diploma with minimum CGPA 2.75
Building on the BGS Fund tradition of empowering African scholars, MyBIG-Africa for Teachers & Lecturers is now open to all educators in Africa —a more inclusive approach to ensure that 18,000 teachers in 2025 will have the opportunity to pursue higher education through our generous grants.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Applicant will receive:
1. Confirmation if applicant is successful based on personal information,citizenship and proof of qualification provided.
2. Offer letter with Acceptance Form. All relevant information e.g. Start Date, Virtual Class Schedule, Validity of Offer, etc. will be provided thru’ this letter.
Applicant must complete the Acceptance Form and return by e-mail before the closing date together with the first Installment Payment.
Upon receipt of the completed Acceptance Form and 1st installment fees, the university will send the PASSWORD to access the Online LIVE Classes.
