Introduction

The Doctor of Philosophy or PhD is the highest research – based academic degree one can earn from a university. By its very nature, a research degree is an individual pursuit. As such, students will be expected to design and develop their own research strategies, pursue original lines of thought and present novel research findings. PhD students are required to make an original and new contribution to the body of knowledge every PhD candidate will create a singular unique piece of work that will help their own personal and career development. The PhD research will also contribute to the advancement and diversity of research at the University

❖ It is a milestone-based PhD, thus every candidate is guided professionally and meets every 6 months with the Academic Committee of BGS to agree on progress made and continuation of the PhD journey.

Program Aim

The aim of the Binary PhD is to produce graduates with excellent research and analytical skills who are well-equipped to serve in academia, research institutions, public service and industry.

Program Content

The Binary PhD programme requires

❖ Completion of an Audit course (Research Methodology).

Attend at least 2 Virtual Seminars and 1 Virtual Conference.

 ❖Publish at least 2 research articles in globally-recognised journals.

Successfully defend a Thesis of at least 70,000 words.

❖ The normal period of study is 36 months to 72 months.

The following 8 research centres at the Binary Graduate School will provide support to the PhD students throughout their research journey.

Entry Requirements

❖ A recognized Masters in Education or related specialisation for those wishing to undertake the PhD with research areas in Education.

❖ Any other recognised Masters subject to approval of the Senate.

❖ A minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or its equivalent, or completion of an approved English course may be accepted.

Delivery Mode: Real Time Live Class & Recorded Version

❖ This PhD program is delivered 100% online using Real Time Class Mode (LIVE).

❖ Those candidates who missed the LIVE classes can view the Recorded Version

❖ PhD candidates who wish to come to the campus anytime during their studies are most welcome. Please make official request at least 1 month prior to arrival by e-mail to [email protected] to obtain approval.

Special Fees & Intake Dates

❖ In conjunction with our 41st Anniversary, a SPECIAL GRANT OF 50% – 70% per student is being offered for the 2025-2026 intakes. Please apply by 15th July to enjoy this special grant of 70%. More details as follows.

a.  The 70% Grant is limited only to those who join the 15th August 2025 intake. Application must be received by 15th July to enjoy this subsidy.

 b. All applications received after 15th July will enjoy a 60% grant for the 15th October 2025intake. Closing date for application is 15th September 2025.

c.  All applications received after 15th September will enjoy a 50% Grant. Next intake is 15th January 2026.
